Utility Surcharges

Telephone and electric companies providing services in Maryland pay surcharges that are distributed to various funds. Surcharges from telephone companies are deposited into the 911 Emergency Telephone System and the Telephone Access of Maryland Funds. Surcharges and fees from electric companies are distributed between the Environmental Trust Fund and the Universal Trust Fund.
